☀️ Important Note on Heat & Pressure Damage:
While our boards are designed for sunny days, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can significantly increase internal pressure — especially when inflated to full capacity.
Do not leave your paddleboard fully inflated under direct sun for extended periods.
This includes situations like parking lot barbecues, beach lounging, or roof racks in summer heat.
Inflatable paddleboards can experience a pressure build-up that may lead to permanent damage or failure. This is not considered a manufacturing defect and is not covered under warranty.
Math for the nerds:
Josh sets out on a sunny 25°C day and inflates his board to 16 PSI.
He then leaves it on the beach — in direct sunlight — and the internal air temperature rises to just 35°C (a very conservative estimate).
That 10°C increase causes a 7% pressure spike, pushing the board to 17.1 PSI.
This seemingly small change adds over 2,700 pounds of additional force inside the board...
That’s roughly the weight of a fully loaded refrigerator, or two washing machines, constantly pressing against the seams and valves.
Not good.
What to do instead:
- “Burp” the board for 5–10 seconds when not in use — this means letting out some air to reduce internal pressure.
- Reinflate to your desired PSI before paddling again.
- Store in the shade whenever possible, or cover it with a reflective tarp/wet towel.
- Be mindful that UV exposure over time can also cause surface fading and material weakening.
Most paddleboard companies treat heat-related damage as misuse — and so do we...
It takes 10 seconds — and saves you a board.
